Eventing is a competition which comprises dressage, cross-country and show jumping with roots as a comprehensive cavalry test requiring mastery of several types of riding. It has three main formats, the one day event (ODE), two day event and the three day event (3DE), which in reality now runs four days at some competitions. The US Eventing Team for the 2008 Olympics included: Phillip Dutton on Irish Sport Horse gelding “Connaught”, Becky Holder riding Thoroughbred gelding “Courageous Comet”, Gina Miles with rish Sport Horse gelding “McKinlaigh Dach”, Amy Tryon on Thoroughbred, gelding “Poggio II”.
